Apple’s
advertisement from Summer 2013 was purposed to get people to relate. It was
made to help reach a broad target market and make it so they felt connected in
some way to Apple. It shows the Apple products being used in different areas of
people’s lives and how Apple wants to touch their lives. It has the softer
monologue and a bit louder piano music. It has videos of daily living and
people being together. It has the right feel that everyone is somehow feeling
the commercial is to just them. Apple did well in making this commercial
relatable to consumers. They are trying to get more consumers to buy into their
brand and become a part of the Apple family. This commercial was mainly for the
Apple TV and saying that it is to the same standards and expectations of all
the rest of their products. It was showing how the products that Apple has sold
recently have impacted lives in many ways, some even bringing people together.
This is to show how the brand fits into each person’s life and makes it a
better place. As a brand they are trying to make a connection and a loyalty to
them.
One thing they may be missing in
this commercial is a selling point. They are showing how Apple relates to the
consumer, but if it truly is for the TV it is missing more about that. They
either could have shown more videos of families watching shows on the TV, like
just a couple, or had some explanation of when it was coming out, where, etc. They
also could have changed the commercial up a little and made it more about why
people should buy the product, and what features this TV has to set it apart
and add that value. I personally did not even realize the commercial was for a
TV for the first couple times I saw it. This may boost the company in general as
far as consumers feeling that they can relate to the company, and even possibly
staying loyal to the company, but most likely not increase TV sales as much as
they may have hoped. I do think it is a good advertisement just not completely
for the reasons it was originally planned for.
