Subway

So last but not least Subway!!
This advertisement is pretty straight forward without many words outside of their brand and slogan. Their slogan of eat fresh is something they try and keep throughout the company. In this advertisement it shows just the food and a to-go box put on top of an outdoors background. Since they put the to go box they are trying to get people to think of their company for picnic times or for when they are just having a day outside. The setting of the advertisement and the way it is set up is basic enough that it could make people feel like going out. This advertisement was probably set for the summer time since more people will be thinking of outdoor activities and children are out for the summer.
This advertisement relates to our class by the fact that their slogan is throughout their company for everything they advertise or do. They are very consistent and this advertisement is no different. Eat fresh on this advertisement is through it having just the outside it also has a sandwich with healthy and fresh ingredients. It is staying true to their brand which we talked about how important that is. The colors of the advertisement go along with the cup and the container which ties it all together. This advertisement is rather basic though. It does not have a way to track how successful it was or how much return it made.

Target

This is an advertisement for Target as they were trying to become a place where you can get where everything you need for an event. I chose this because they did a good job in my opinion. This advertisement is very relatable to many customers and potential customers of Target. It shows that even in hosting groups of people over you can do so and have quality and trendy items but still save money. Target is a well-known store and it has many special offers to attract customers to them. Target’s target market for this commercial is cost aware twenty to thirty year olds who want to be trendy and popular. The advertisement shows just that a twenty something year old woman who is getting ready to have friends over. She has all the nicest things for the party and  it is clear that she is well liked. Target was reaffirming their brand in a way that to show the more trendy side. This is showing that they have the latest products and that they are still at the low cost that you can have them all. This commercial also hints to the fact that the consumer can make one stop at Target and find everything they need from food to decorations.
Target also incorporates social media into this advertisement. They do this through having a hashtag at the bottom. As we learned in class this is a way that they can track this advertisement. Through the hashtag they can see what people are reacting or talking about Target through the hashtag. They can see their response rate to track how successful this advertisement is. This is helpful to them to know if they should keep having these types of ads (which they have) or not.

Nike

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2JnYcuRW_qo

I chose this advertisement from Nike partially because it is so different from their normal advertising, and I also chose it because it generates a reaction. This commercial is more inspirational then most of the advertisements that they have with athletes. I feel like they are trying to reach a new market/ people who may not relate to athletes. Nike has lost some ground on clients lately as they thought that smaller companies could not reach the prestige that Nike had. Nike then let some companies, such as Under Armor, come and steal their market. They are now trying to expand their reach and consumers. I think that this advertisement is good in the since that it is really relatable to many people wanting to get in shape or stay in shape. This advertisement is an encouragement to them to keep going no matter how far or long they have to go to reach their goal. It also shows that Nike is going to help them get there. Nike is trying to relate to the customers that use their product and show how the brand can help them reach their goals in life. Nike is using this to recover from bad public relations that they had for a little. That was caused by a few different events in the past years. They have had more people talking negatively than positively about Nike and so this is a part of what they did to try and reverse that. I think this advertisement is good because it does reach so many people, and it gets a point across. It also shows what the brand is selling and how the products should be used.
This advertisement reaches a wide variety of consumers. I feel like their target market for this particular advertisement though is probably people younger in age wanting to get in shape and feel like they cannot do it. It makes them feel like they are capable of greatness and whatever goals they have set up or want to set up. This is reaching a group that may not feel included in an athletic brand outside of this commercial. I also like the fact that they used a real person in this commercial and not just an actor. It makes it that much more relatable and people can then see his story after the commercial.

"Best Bus Stop Ever"

Video yo!
This is an advertisement for Qualcomm. They went around and placed links at bus stops that would have a chain of reactions. This has a few ways that it relates to our class, like it has an url code that will cause a reaction, boosts customer relations, and more. The idea behind this was to make consumers of the bus stop more interesting and creative. In this video they did a good job interacting with the consumers and making people talk about the company. They seemed to have a good response to their URLs. They have done this sort of thing multiple times in different bus stops. Personalized URLs make it so they can track who goes to that site and see how many people are responding to their advertisements. Also they are doing guerrilla advertising by advertising where people are and doing so in unusual ways. It catches people off guard and they can tend to notice such advertising more than just a billboard or commercial. A bus stop is a great place to advertise like this since people are sitting around and waiting for the bus and usually do not have much to do while waiting. It gets more people to know what Qualcomm is. Also Qualcomm does many videos like this one to boost their company. This advertisement does get a lot recognition but it is not completely effective since many people do not know what their company does. I even had to look it up, and I found that it is a wireless technology and innovation company. I can see many people talking about their company for all of this but it most likely is not cost effective. The cost for this advertisement has to be high and I would wonder what their return is on the different locations.
There are different ways I would change this advertisement. First somehow I would actually put the brand name on the advertisement. The advertisement right now only has "are you born mobile?” which does not specify what company the advertisement is for. It would help them get their actual brand out if the board or bench had it on there. Although over all though I like the idea of guerilla advertising, especially having the advertising where they did. I think that it is a creative way and many people will talk about it.
